Garry Slater
Garry Slater founded National Property Buyers in 2005, buying homes directly from sellers facing every kind of situation. Chain collapses, probate and inheritance, divorce, financial difficulties, structural problems, and more. In 2011, he separately built a regulated lettings business too. That gives him a landlord’s perspective genuinely useful on the tenanted sales this site also covers. Every complex offer is personally reviewed by Garry before it’s issued.
Professional background
Garry Slater is the founder of National Property Buyers, a UK direct property-buying business operating since 2005. The business focuses on situations most estate agents struggle to handle well. This includes collapsed chains, probate property, tenanted sales, and homes with structural or legal complications.
Garry also founded Slater & Brandley, an independent letting agency in Nottingham, in July 2011. Regulated by ARLA Propertymark, it manages more than 800 rental properties across the city today. It also holds over 1,400 Google reviews, with a 4.9 out of 5 rating. Since 2011, the agency has operated through a series of major changes to UK lettings law. This includes mandatory Right to Rent checks, the Tenant Fees Act, and mandatory Client Money Protection. Most recently, it has adapted to the Renters’ Rights Act 2025 and the end of Section 21. The two businesses operate entirely independently of one another.
A brief history
2005 — National Property Buyers founded. The business began by offering a direct cash alternative to the uncertainty of an open-market sale.
2008–2012 — FSA-authorised sale-and-rent-back service. During the financial crisis, the business operated a regulated sale-and-rent-back service. It was authorised by the Financial Services Authority (FSA), the UK regulator at the time. The FSA was replaced by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in 2013. This specific service is no longer offered today.
2011 — Slater & Brandley founded. Garry founded this separate, independent letting agency in Nottingham. It now manages over 800 properties spanning both single lets and also houses in multiple occupation (HMOs).
2013–present — Specialising in complex and problem properties. As National Property Buyers grew, its focus shifted toward the hardest situations to sell through traditional means. This includes inherited and probate properties, tenanted sales, and homes affected by knotweed, structural defects, or unresolved legal disputes.
